2007 LOS CARNEROS PINOT GRIS

Tasting Notes
"This gem bursts with vibrant scents of Meyer lemon, orange zest and fresh stone fruits highlighted by subtle floral overtones. Juicy flavors of citrus and fresh pear with a slightly mineral, spiced finish make this a wonderfully versatile wine. Serve well chilled as an aperitif, or pair with mildly spicy cuisine." - Melissa Stackhouse, La Crema Winemaker

The Place: Los Carneros
Los Carneros is at the southern tip of Sonoma County. Straddling the Napa/Sonoma County line, the Carneros hillsides roll up from the San Pablo Bay. The unique factor here is wind - a relentless cooling force that charges up through the vineyards. Our Huichica Hills Vineyard is found on a hillside just five miles from the bay, providing ideal growing conditions for Pinot Gris. The name Huichica (wee -CHEEK-KA), is the Native American Miwok tribe's name for a small burrowing owl. It was said that the owl had supernatural powers, living in the local creek banks and hills, and unlike other species it was seen at day and night.
