Five Fall Transition Pieces

As the evenings get shorter, and a slight breeze cools the air after sunset, it’s time to start pulling sweaters out from the back of the closet. To ease the transition from summer to fall wardrobes, we recommend these five key pieces that will keep you chic and comfortable. A late summer BBQ is the perfect time to test out your new look.

1. Oxfords

Trade strappy sandals for something more substantial. Pair menswear-inspired oxfords with a floaty skirt now; when the weather cools they’ll look great with sweater dresses or cuffed trousers.

2. Circle Scarf

Ward off early season chills with a big scarf. Paring gray with bright colors is an overall trend – one that’s especially easy to wear in an easy circle scarf. Toss this knit version over stripes or a polka dot tee.

3. Pastel Topper

To bridge the seasons, choose a light coat or blazer in a color that really pops. Coral, pale pink or classic camel look stylish and fresh.

4.  Pleated Leather Skirt

Leather will be big this fall. A kicky pleated leather skirt is great for late summer BBQs and will take you through the winter if you add tights and a warm sweater.

5. Plaid Shirt

A bold plaid pairs with floral patterns now, and will add visual interest later in the season peeking out from beneath a solid color sweater or cardigan.

Of course, the best transition piece of all may be a bottle of Pinot Noir. It complements everything from late season tomato salads to the creamy baked pasta or grilled pork!  What are your tips for a fashionable transition from summer to fall?
