OUT Fashion Vanguard Awards & Our New Statement Maker
On March 30, 2016, we went to LA to sponsor the inaugural OUT Fashion Vanguard Awards where the winner would also become our newest La Crema Statement Maker. With the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, CA dressed to the nines and plenty of Pinot and Chardonnay flowing, we were in for a spectacular evening recognizing three aspiring fashion designers.
The event was hosted by soccer player, Robbie Rogers, and his stylist, Warren Alfie Baker, and co-chaired by OUT editor-in-chief Aaron Hicklin, fashion director Grant Woolhead, and Here Media group publisher Joe Valentino. A fashion awards show wouldn’t be complete without an esteemed panel of judges including our own La Crema Brand Ambassador, Jason Hunke, Macy’s VP of Fashion Design, Durand Guion, and ‘Rich Kids of Beverly Hills’ star, E.J. Johnson.
The three hopeful designers, Marcel Coleman Jr., Kim Mesches and Andrew Morrison showed their custom red carpet designs in front of LA’s finest, but only one would be titled the first OUT Fashion Vanguard Award winner.
After the judges deliberated, they concluded Andrew Morrison’s avant-garde approach to reinvigorated, gender-neutral menswear was the winner. We are incredibly excited to have him as our newest La Crema Statement Maker! Stay tuned for more info on Andrew and how he makes his life a statement.
