Personalized Mini Apple Pies
Hi. My name is Ashley and I’m addicted to monograms. Now that we have that out in the open, I want to share with you the cutest little recipe for personalized mini apple pies, just in time for your holiday feasts!
Not only are these darling little pies fun to look at and delicious, they serve the purpose of a place card for your guests! Little alphabet cutters made for fondant and cake decorating really make this project a cinch. It’s a great way to add a big wow factor to your meal without a lot of fuss.
I used a prepared pie crust because it’s a bit easier than making pie dough from scratch, but by all means, if you have a favorite pie dough recipe, use it! But, if you’re in a time crunch (like most of us are during the holidays), not to worry, the vibrant flavors of the filling will be the highlight of the dessert, so nobody will judge you and your store-bought pie crust. Besides, there are plenty of delicious pre-made pie crusts these days anyway!
Make sure you cut your apples into much smaller bites than you would for a regular pie or crisp recipe. Always use a tart variety of apple when baking. I prefer Macintosh, but they’re hard to find here in the south, so I usually use Granny Smith. Simple, simple ingredients are key: just a little sugar, butter, cinnamon and flour is all you need.
Personalized Mini Apple Pies

A fun, personal twist on a holiday classic! These petite pastries are the perfect touch for your holiday meal. They’re as functional as they are beautiful, letting your guests know where to sit while providing a sweet treat for after (or before!) their meal.
- 2 prepared pie crusts
- 5 medium apples
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter (chilled)
- Let prepared crusts come to room temperature.
- Roll out on lightly floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut 12, 4 inch circles with a juice cup or measuring cup.
- Put remaining crust aside and save.
- Press each circle into a well of your ungreased muffin tin.
- Peel your apples and chop into small pieces.
- Mix all filling ingredients and spoon the mixture into each crust.
- Using your alphabet fondant cutters, cut the initials of each guest and place them on each pie in a monogram format.
- Brush the top of each mini pie with egg white and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 16-18 minutes. (Until crust is light brown and apples are bubbling).
If your dough sticks inside your fondant cutters you can use a chopstick or bamboo skewer to poke the letters out. For female guests, the monogram should be in the following order: First initial, last initial, middle initial. For male guests, the monogram should read first, middle, last. Once your letters are in place, it’s time to brush, sprinkle and bake! The egg wash and sugar topping add just a hint of sheen to the tops of your perfectly browned pies.
Serve your mini pies with a glass of luscious, buttery La Crema Monterey Chardonnay. The sweetness from the apples and spiciness from the cinnamon in the pies pair so lovely together and are a great way to cap off a delicious meal (or maybe just as an afternoon snack).
